Assistant Market Manager

The ideal candidate will have retail operations and employee management experience and is comfortable leading groups of employees and on-site store operations. This role is responsible for aiding store operations, including, but not limited to; maximizing sales & profits, staff-scheduling, staff supervision, staff training, leadership, and communicating with other Georgetown Events businesses and executives. In addition to Market operations, the Manager will lead product offering discussions, manage ordering and inventory of products and develop merchandising strategies to drive retail sales.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for assisting in managing day to day operations of Millie’s Market Nantucket
  2. Guarantee maximum sales & profits by optimizing merchandising of all goods and products
  3. Manage inventory levels
  4. Responsible for helping daily ordering of food, beverage, alcohol, and ice cream products (Sysco, CoreMark, Coca-Cola, etc.)
  5. Manage staff of approximately 30 employees; inventory management, scheduling, documentation, oversight, and new employee training
  6. Responsible for ensuring the Market’s in-store and outside appearance is kept clean, organized, and well-stocked by Market staff
  7. Works with Millie’s Restaurant staff and management to coordinate appropriate efforts
  8. Sends daily reports to Leadership with key business information (sales, staff, daily summary)
  9. Communicates with Leadership regarding staff (scheduling, performance)
  10. Ability to manage unique situations with customers and staff; escalating issues as appropriate
  11. Foster a healthy and positive working environment for guests & staff alike
 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience managing a retail operation or customer-facing business
  • Customer management skills. Strong organizational skills. Good communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Internet tools, etc.
  • Ability to lead staff, provide direction and oversee the Market operations
 

REPORTS TO: Millie’s Nantucket General Manager, Georgetown Events Upper Management & ownership

 

OVERSEES: Market staff

 

EDUCATION: High school diploma required. Degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus

 

LICENSE: Valid driver’s license required, able to procure any necessary health, food, and alcohol licenses

 

VACCINATIONS: COVID-19 vaccination + boosters required

 

LANGUAGE: Must be fluent in English
